What 86 families grew this summer

This summer our 86 garden families harvested 4,100 pounds of produce. About a third went straight to the pantry shelves, usually the same morning it was picked.

  1. Tomatoes: 1,200 pounds.
  2. Summer squash: 640 pounds.
  3. Kale: 510 pounds, and counting.
  4. Peppers: 380 pounds.
  5. Herbs: more basil than anyone could use.

The record goes to the Nguyen family's pumpkin, which took three volunteers and a wheelbarrow to move.
