Fall planting starts September 20. We're putting in garlic, collards, and three kinds of kale, plus a brand-new teaching bed for the Saturday Seedlings kids.

What goes in when

• Sept 20: garlic and shallots in the north beds.
• Sept 27: collards, kale, and chard starts.
• Oct 4: cover crop on the plots that are resting.
• Oct 11: the kids plant their own bed of radishes and spinach.

Plot holders can pick up free seed packets at the front desk starting next week. Tom will be in the garden every Saturday morning to answer questions and lend tools.

Fall is the easiest season to grow in. The weeds give up before you do.
